The following criteria are required for this scholarship:

  • Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Must be majoring in agri-business
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Must be a son/daughter of a parent/legal guardian who has been an active member, director, or employee for at least the prior 3 years of a cooperative which has been a member in good standing of the Council for the past 5 years

  • Recipients must have a student classification of sophomore or above and be a member of the varsity football team.
  • Recipients will be selected by the football coaches and athletic director of UNK.

Alvin Brown Memorial Scholarship

Established by friends and family of Alvin Brown, this scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student.
Recipient must be a member of the varsity football or men's basketball program, and have graduated from a Nebraska high school. Selection shall be made by the Athletic Director, Football and Men's Basketball Coach.

  • Candidates shall be graduates of a NE or KS high school defined as high schools with a class "C" classification or below under the NESAA or the equivalent for Kansas high schools. 
  • Candidates shall have expressed a desire to pursue a career in the area of teaching/coaching, broadcasting or marketing in that order of priority following graduation from UNK. 
  • Candidates shall be members of the varsity Women's Basketball Team.





Arden & Delores Swanson Athletic Scholarship Fund

Candidates shall be members of either the football team or the volleyball team. 
Preference shall be given to candidates who are residents of Kearney or Phelps counties.






Bachman Family Athletic Scholarship

This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to undergraduate students at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Member of the UNK Football and/or Wrestling team
  • Freshman class standing or above
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
Scholarships may be renewed so long as recipients remain in good academic standing and continue to meet the criteria set forth above.





Bahensky Family Endowed Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to undergraduate or graduate student athletes at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Demonstrated Financial Need and/or academic merit-based aid

Scholarships shall be renewable for recipients based on satisfactory academic progress up to the completion of the degree program.  Student athletes must also remain as a member on a varsity athletic team to be eligible for renewal.





Bamford Men's Basketball Scholarship Fund



This fund shall provide one or more scholarships for any combination of fall, spring, or summer semesters to students at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Member's of the men's basketball team, UNK
  • Freshman or above class standing
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above
Preference may be given to students who meet the following:
  • Demonstrated financial need







Awarded to student who is a member of the varsity football team at UNK; first preference to candidates pursuing major in the College of B & T at UNK. Recipient to be determined by head football coach, dept of intercollegiate athletics, UNK.








Established to help support students in athletics, with track to be given preference.
Recipients should have a minimum 3.0 GPA, or if a freshman, be in the top 20% of their high school graduating class.
Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee from applicants recommended by the Athletic Director.






Bleeding Blue Heart Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to undergraduate students at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Member of the Football team in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at UNK
  • Incoming freshman class standing, except for renewals 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above
  • Resident of NE
Preference may be given to students who meet the following:
  • Demonstrated financial need
Scholarships may be renewed for one (1) additional academic year so long as recipients maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above and continue to meet the criteria set forth above.







Established to assist one or more full-time undergraduate students enrolled at UNK. Selection criteria include being active in varsity athletics at UNK, a resident of Nebraska, of sophomore, junior, or senior status, and a minimum 2.0 GPA. Financial need will not be a criteria. Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee.








Annually or otherwise for one or more scholarship to members of the Varsity Football Team.  Candidates must be graduates of a NE high school and maintain at least a 2.75 GA.








Annually or otherwise for one or more scholarships to regularly enrolled members of the football team.








Shall be awarded to a member of any athletic team.







Recipients must participate in a varsity athletic program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. First preference is given to basketball. The recipient must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. Recipients must be graduates of a Nebraska High School.








Any major, and on the men's or women's tennis team. Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident. To be determined by the tennis coach or athletic director.








This fund shall be used annually or otherwise for one or more scholarships to regularly enrolled undergraduate students who are members of any men's athletic team in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, UNK.







This fund shall be used annually or otherwise for one or more scholarships to regularly enrolled undergraduate students who are members of any men's athletic team in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, UNK.





Challenge Grant for UNK Athletics



This Fund shall be used annually or otherwise for one or more scholarships to student athletes at UNK.







Established by Charlie Foster to assist male student athletes participating in track. Selection will be made by the track coaches.








Established by Charlie Foster to assist female student athletes participating in track. Selection will be made by the track coaches.








For one or more scholarships to undergrad students pursuing any major at UNK, and who are members of the track and field team, dept of athletics; frist preference shall be to a sprinter or long jumper. Recipient will be chosen by the head coach of the track and field team








Annually or otherwise to one or more regularly enrolled student(s), playing football (principally offensive line), and sophomore status or above. 2.5 GPA required. Demonstrates high moral character.  To be determined by Head Football Coach in consultation with the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.








Annually or otherwise for a men's basketball team member.






Coach Robert D. Hauver and Robert D. Hauver Jr. Memorial Scholarship



This Fund shall provide two (2) scholarships to undergraduate students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Participating in varsity athletics at the University of Nebraska at Kearney
  • Junior class standing or above
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Graduates of a Nebraska High School
Preference may be given to students who meet the following:
  • First preference shall be for Varsity Track athletes
  • Second preference shall be for Varsity Football athletes
  • Majoring in Music, Department of Music, Theater and Dance, College of Arts and Sciences, UNK
  • Demonstrated Financial Need
May be renewed with a 2.5 or higher GPA.





Coach Terry Renner Family Football Endowed Scholarship



This fund shall be used for one or more scholarships to students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Regularly enrolled at UNK
  • Member of the UNK football team







Annually or otherwise for one more scholarships to members of the volleyball team. Candidates shall have sophomore class standing or above and a cum GPA of 3.0 or above.








Awarded to a student participating in varsity athletics from any of the following counties: Buffalo, Hall, Adams, Kearney, Phelps, Dawson, Custer, Sherman, Howard, Valley and Greeley.








Annually or otherwise to full-time UG students. Must be a member of the Women's golf team.
**Each scholarship shall be in the amount of $1000.00, however last scholarship can be more than $1000.00 in order to use up remaining balance of fund.**

Scholarship shall be determined by the head coach of the Women's Golf Team.
 








Established by the friends and family of Don Childs, to provide financial assistance to two sophomore, junior, or senior track athletes. Selection will be based upon the athletes' ability in distance running, as well as leadership qualities, and general good character. Recipients shall be selected by the track coaches.








Annually for one or more scholarships, full-time enrolled members of any athletic team.  Candidates shall be pursuing any major, demonstrated academic excellence and potential for future academic and professional growth.  Financial need may be considered but shall be be the controlling criterion.  May be renewed with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.








Used annually for one or more scholarships to fulltime students who are members of the men's or women's tennis teams.  Candidates shall be pursuing any major and have demonstrated academic excellence and demonstrated a potential for future academic and professional growth.  Renewable for 3 years with a GPA of 3.0 or above.








Annually or otherwise for one more scholarship to members of the basketball team pursuing any major at UNK.  Candidates shall be graduates of any NE high school whose basketball teams are classified as Class B,C, or D.  Preference shall be given to candidates who have demonstrated financial need.








Established by Dr. Francis L. Richards and Donald K. Briggs, this scholarship shall be awarded to a male or female member of the varsity track program. Recipients shall have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and have graduated from a Nebraska high school. Financial need shall be a criteria but not the determining factor. Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee upon recommendation from the Men's and Women's Track coaches.








Established by Gary D. Graham, M.D. in memory of his father, Dudley Graham, who was an athlete at Kearney State College and was actively involved in the athletic program. This scholarship will be awarded alternately between athletes participating in football and men's basketball. Recipients shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with the respective coach.








Established to provide support for students of UNK. Recipients must meet the academic standards of the University to be eligible. Financial need may be considered, but will not be the determining factor. Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee from applicants recommended by the Athletic Director.








Established by the friends and family of F. Keith Cottrell, who was a Kearney State College graduate and a member of the Athletic Associates. This scholarship will be awarded to a UNK athlete. Selection will be based upon financial need. Recipients shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with coaches.








This scholarship is awarded to a full-time, undergraduate, track athlete. The recipient shall be selected by the track coach.








This fund shall provide one or more scholarships to undergraduate students on the carsity football team, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
 

  • Member of the carsity football team, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, UNK
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above, or an ACT score of 21 or higher
  • Graduates of a Nebraska high school







Established by the family of Gary Johnson to provide financial assistance to a full-time UNK student athlete from Nebraska. The recipient must be a sophomore, junior, or senior and should be participating in football. Recipients shall be selected by the football coach in consultation with the Athletic Director.








Given to football player. First preference to a Kearney High Graduate. Second preference is to a Minden High graduate.








Annually or otherwise for one or more scholarships to members of the volleyball, football and basketball teams.






Horst Family UNK Athletic Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to undergraduate or graduate student athletes at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible.
  • Pursuing a degree in any College/Program
  • Demonstrated financial need and/or academic merit-based aid
Scholarships are renewable for recipients based on satisfactory academic progress up to the completion of the degree program.  Student athletes must also remain as a member on a varsity athletic team to be eligible for renewal.







Annually or otherwise to be awarded to a(n) athlete(s). Sophomore or above with any major.






Karjalainen Family Wrestling Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to undergraduate students at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Member of the UNK Wrestling Team
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
Scholarships may be renewed so long as recipients remain in good academic standing and continue to meet the criteria set forth above.
 







This scholarship, established by the Kearney Tennis Association, shall be awarded to male and female students who are members of the UNK Tennis Team. Recipients may have any class standing and must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. The UNK Scholarship Committee shall select the recipients upon recommendations from the tennis coach.






Kendall Weyers Memorial Scholarship



Established to help full-time students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Selection criteria include being a senior and being the son or daughter of currently employed, deceased, or retired law enforcement officer within the State of Nebraska. Applicants in any major or minor may apply; however, Criminal Justice majors and minors will receive special consideration. Those who have proven academic excellence and provided proof of financial need shall be given first consideration. Please include on your application the name and past/present position of the parent who qualifies you for this scholarship.








This scholarship shall be awarded to regularly enrolled undergraduate students who are members of any UNK varsity sport. Candidates shall be members of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.








Annually or otherwise for one or more scholarships to members of the football team.  Candidates shall have freshman class standing and a GPA of 3.0 or above.








Candidates must be members of Varsity Track and Field Team, UNK, have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, cum gpa of 2.5 or above; preference given to grads of NE High School and to candidates participating in long jump, triple jump, high jump or pole vault events.








This scholarship, established by Dick Beechner, shall be awarded to a student athlete. The recipient shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with coaches.








This fund shall be awarded to members of the UNK Baseball Team.








This scholarship shall be awarded to regularly enrolled undergraduates who are members of the UNK football team. Recipients shall be determined by the head football coach.








Awarded to a member of the UNK Volleyball Team.








Annually or Otherwise for football playing student(s). To be chosen by Head Football Coach.








The recipient must be a member of the Men's or Women's Varsity Golf program. Selection is made jointly by the Golf Coach and the Director of Athletics






Max Broderson Athletic Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to student athletes at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Member of the varsity track, softball, and/or football team
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above







Awarded to a full-time student who participates in baseball. The recipient is selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with the baseball coach.






Mike Brimlow Fund



This fund is to be used for scholarships for offense lineman participating in the football.







Annually or otherwise to regularly enrolled undergraduates who are members of the Women's Soccer Team.






Norblade Family Scholarship



This Fund shall be used annually or otherwise for one or more scholarships to regularly enrolled undergraduate students at UNK.

Each scholarship awarded hereunder shall be in the minimum amount of $1000 per academic year.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Member of varsity football team
  • Graduates of Kearney High School
  • Incoming freshman class standing
Preference to:
  • Majors in Art
  • Need considered
  • involvement in school and/or church activities





Osentowski Family UNK Football Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to students at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Member of the UNK Football Team
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above





Ralph and Vicki Check UNK Track Scholarship



This fund shall provide one or more scholarships to members of the Men's or Women's Track and Field Team, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Except for renewal, incoming freshman class standing
    • Scholarships may be renewed for up to 3 additional years so long as the recipients maintain a 3.0 GPA or above.







Annually or otherwise for 5 or more scholarships to regularly enrolled undergraduates to cover tuition and fees.  Candidates shall be members of the varisty football team and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above.








This scholarship shall be used to award athletes from Nuckolls County, NE.








Members of UNK athletics w/a GPA of 3.0 or greater.





Scott W. Schneider Memorial Cross Country Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one (1) scholarship annually to a student at UNK.  Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Member of the UNK Men's or Women's Cross Country Team
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Graduate of a Class C or D Nebraska high school as defined by the NSAA
Preference may be given to students who meet the following criteria:
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Freshman class standing





Sump Family UNK Athletics Endowed Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one of more scholarships to undergraduate or graduate student athletes at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Pursuing a degree in any College/Program
  • Demonstrated Financial Need and/or academic merit-based aid
Scholarships shall be renewable for recipients based on satisfactory academic progress up to the completion of the degree program.  Student athletes must also remain as a member on a varsity athletic team to be eligible for renewal.
 





Ted & Julie Murray Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one (1) scholarship to an undergraduate student member of the Varsity Football Team, Athletic Department, University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Members of the Varsity Football Team, UNK
  • Graduates of a Nebraska High School
  • Minimum GPA of 2/5 or above
Preference may be given to students who meet the following:
  • Demonstrated financial need







To be given to a regularly enrolled football player. Chosen by Head Coach.








Awarded by the Athletic Department to one female athlete and one male athlete. The recipients must be entering her/his final year and be a resident of Nebraska. These students must demonstrate financial need and use the funds for direct educational expense. Recipients shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with coaches.






Timothy J. and Susan E. Higgins Family Endowed Scholarship



This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to undergraduate or graduate student athletes at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Pursuing a degree in any College/Program
  • Demonstrated financial need and/or academic merit-based aid
Scholarships shall be renewable for recipients based on satisfactory academic progress up to the completion of the degree program.  Student athletes must also remain as a member on a varsity athletic team to be eligible for renewal.

This scholarship shall be awarded to regularly enrolled undergraduate students at UNK who are members of the baseball team. Recipients shall be selected by the baseball coach in consultation with the Athletic Director.








Shall provide one or more scholarships or fellowships to students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  Each scholarship shall be a minimum of $1000.  In the event the spendable balance of the Fund is less than $2000 and no annual gift from Donor is received by UNF, the scholarship and/or fellowship may be awarded at a lesser amount.  Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:

  • Except for renewals, members of any varsity athletic team, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, UNK
  • Except for renewals, any undergraduate major at UNK
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Preference may be given to the following students in priority order:
  • Residents of Buffalo County, NE
  • Residents of any of the following central NE counties: Adams, Custer, Dawson, Hall, Howard, Kearney, Phelps, or Sherman
  • Any otherwise qualified student
Scholarships are renewable and may continue to be renewed as graduate fellowships so long as recipients are admitted to a graduate degree program at UNK; remain in good standing; and continue to meet the criteria set forth above.







This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to undergraduate students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:

  • Candidates shall be athletes on the Men's Varsity Basketball Team.





William F. & Jean A. Johnson Scholarship



Established by Mr. & Mrs. William F. Johnson to provide financial assistance to a graduate of a Kimball County high school and a full-time undergraduate at UNK. Selection will be based upon academic achievement.






Younes Family Endowed Scholarship for UNK Athletics



This Fund shall provide one or more scholarships to student athletes at UNK.

Students meeting the following criteria shall be eligible:
  • Participiating in varsity football, men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, and/or wrestling.
It is the Donor's desire that at least one student athlete from each of the sports as listed above receive a scholarship from this Fund each year.

Scholarships may be renewed so long as recipients remain in good academic standing and continue to meet the criteria set forth above.
